Grand Theft Auto V (commonly shortened as GTA V) is an open world, action-adventure video game for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It is being developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games, set for release on 17 September 2013. It is the first main entry in the Grand Theft Autoseries since Grand Theft Auto IV released in 2008, and the fifteenth entry overall. As it is one of the last titles to release exclusively in the seventh generation of video game consoles, it is considerably anticipated.
Grand Theft Auto V is a third-person shooter and is set in an open world recreation of Southern California. The world is composed of San Andreas, an open countryside area, and the fictional city of Los Santos, which is based on Los Angeles. The single-player story is told through three player-controlled protagonists whom the player switches between; they are Michael, Trevor and Franklin, and the story follows their efforts to plan and execute six large heists to accrue wealth for themselves. An online multiplayer mode is also provided in the game, allowing up to sixteen players to engage in both co-operative and competitive gameplay in a recreation of the single-player setting.
